From April 17th to 19th, 2018, the 2018 first phase of registered urban and rural planner continuing education training course of Guangdong Province, co-sponsored by the Guangdong City Planning Association (hereinafter referred to as the "Provincial Planning Association") and the Shenzhen Municipal Planning Association, was successfully opened in Shenzhen Science Museum.

From April 17th to 19th, 2018, the 2018 first phase of registered urban and rural planner continuing education training course of Guangdong Province, co-sponsored by the Guangdong City Planning Association (hereinafter referred to as the "Provincial Planning Association") and the Shenzhen Municipal Planning Association, was successfully opened in Shenzhen Science Museum. On the basis of summarizing the experiences of conducting three phases of registered urban and rural planner continuing education training courses in 2017, the Provincial Planning Association has kept updating and improving the training content and invited multiple experts to attend the lectures. A total of 400 registered urban and rural planners from throughout the country attended the course.

The meeting was chaired by Zou Bing, president of the Urban Planning Society of Shenzhen (UPSSZ), and Qiu Yanqing, chairman of the Provincial Planning Association delivered the course opening speech. He welcomed the trainees signed up for training and thanked the experts who lectured the classes. He pointed out that the registered planners have put forward higher requirements for the advancing with the times and diversification of the content of continuing education and training, and he hoped that the continuing education training class can be truly treated as the classroom for getting new knowledge. Therefore, the Provincial Planning Association has deeply felt the responsibility and pressure, and it has also attached great importance to the updating and improvement of the training content. In the training class this time, the Provincial Planning Association not only selected the hot topics such as planning reforms, rural revitalization, and planning of big data applications, etc., but also added the section of presentation of the project that won the first prize of 2017 outstanding planning and design of Guangdong Province on the basis of the original expert lectures. It is believed that the lecturing, presentation, and communication in such form will enable everyone to learn and gain, and to exert positive effect in the practical work of the various trainees.

The lecturing session of the training course was divided into two parts, namely the expert lecturing and presentation of the provincial excellent project won the first prize.

In the expert lecturing session, three experts from planning industry were invited for the lecture:

Pan An, president of the Guangzhou Urban Planning Association, was the first lecturing expert instructed the course with the subject of Predicaments and Challenges of Urban and Rural Planning under New Forms of Reform. He mainly explained the significance of achieving global planning by introducing the three inflection points of urban and rural planning and the origin development of unity of multiple regulations, and by combining with the new situation of the current institutional reforms. He pointed out that the planning industry should meet the challenge from the improvement of urban and rural quality, and put forward the corresponding measures.

Yao Biyun, President of Zhejiang Zhuochuang Rural Construction Cultural Tourism Development Co., Ltd., gave a report titled Interpretation of Rural Revitalization Zhejiang Mode and Integration Practice of Full Chain of Zhuo Chuang Rural Construction with the context of the hot topic of “rural revitalization” and the main line of sharing the experience of beautiful countryside in Zhejiang. The report was given from the perspective of rural construction combined with typical practice cases.

Wang Xing, head of the Big Data Center and Intelligent Planning Research and Development Center of the Urban and Rural Planning and Design Institute of Guangdong Province, brought the students a course which was full of the era characteristics and interesting based on the new situation for the development of planning big data applications -- The Trends of Digital Urban and Rural Planning and Standard Interpretation of the Statutory Planning Data of Guangdong Province. He also analyzed the exploration of planning practice under the background of new technologies in the new era.

In the section of the newly added presentation of provincial outstanding projects won the first prize, the Provincial Planning Association selected six outstanding planning and design projects won the first prize of Guangdong Province in 2017 for presentation. The projects included the categories such as urban planning, village and town planning and special planning information and so on: Liu Pei, principal planner of Urban and Rural Planning and Design Institute of Guangdong Province, shared Plan for Guangzhou-Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Corridor; Chen Minghui, deputy director of the Geographic Information and Planning Research Center of Dongguan City, shared the Urban “Ecological Resource Recognition of Small Hill and Lake, Assessment and Management Research Based on RS and GIS”; Chen Zhimin, deputy chief planner of the Guangzhou Urban Planning Survey and Design Institute, shared Master Urban Design of Guangzhou City; He Jihong, Director of Planning Research Institute of Foshan Urban Planning and Design Institute, shared Controlled Detailed Planning for West Shiwan Area of District of Chancheng District; Shi Yuan, Director of Public Policy Institute of Shenzhen Planning and Land Development Research Center, shared Research on the Reform Series of Planning Land Management System of Shenzhen during Stock Development Period; Zeng Chunxia, Assistant Director of TOD Center of Guangdong Institute of Architectural Design and Research Institute, shared Integrated Design of Station Collaborative Stereo Metropolis of Guangzhou City and TOD Comprehensive Development Plan (2017-2023).

On the afternoon of April 19th, the 2018 first phase of registered urban and rural planner continuing education training class of Guangdong Province officially concluded. The trainees of the training course expressed great satisfaction with the lecture content. They believed that the training content was combined with many hot topics at present, which was highly practical and innovative, thus they benefited a great lot. At the same time, the trainees hoped that the next training class could be held by further combining the new trends and achievements in the planning industry, so as to continuously enrich the knowledge system of registered planners and enhance the understanding of new achievements of industry development and the grasping ability of knowledge.
