In the morning of May 27, 2017, it was the great honor for our institute to invite Professor Li Xiaojiang, the former president of China Academy of Urban Planning and Design, to make an academic lecture titled "innovation space and space innovation". The competent department of our institute, Provincial Urban and Rural Housing Construction Department, attached great importance to the lecture, and the principal, Zhang Shaokang, the deputy director-general, Guo Zhuangshi, the chief planner, Li Yongjie and other leaders attended the lecture, as well as the Professor Zhu Jianyun of South China University of Technology; President Qiu Yanqing of our institute presided over the lecture, and more than 170 middle-level leaders and technical personnel of the whole institute listened to the lecture.

First of all, President Li proposed the concept of innovation space and space innovation through the change trend analysis of development mode, development subject, development logic and etc from the background of current socio-economic transformation and innovation. Then, through the observation of innovation space, he summarized the type, nature and characteristics of innovation space, and put forward some thinking about key elements of space innovation from the perspective of planning. Finally, he made a concrete elaboration about the development mode and characteristics of innovation space in different regions in combination with the observation of three cases: the core area of Zhongguancun, Kechuang Corridor in the west of Hangzhou, and the middle reaches of Tianjin Haihe River.

The lecture of President Li was informative and inclusive, and each keyword, each point of view and each item of content were the summary and guidance from long-term research and practical experience, so all of them deserved the earnest study of our technical staff, and made us feel an academic feast in innovation field. President Qiu expressed his heartfelt thanks for the lecture of Professor Li as well as the arrival of each leader.
